The glassy structure towering over the adjacent buildings on the corner of East 5th Street, opened in 2008 and was known as Cooper Square Hotel. A year after opening, the hotel went into foreclosure and landed in real estate purgatory for two years. Eventually, hotelier Andre Balazs elevated the neglected building from it's substandard position into The Standard, East Village hotel (ba-dum-tish!).

Jorge approached me with the idea of an Instagram campaign for the Standard East Village a few months ago and I tried my best to agree to join without revealing my obscene excitement for the project. Jorge's passion for photography and desire to understand every aspect of it, is invigorating, so I was eager to be apart of any project in was involved in. Also, a day filled with good food and well designed places is akin Disneyland for me
